Free jacket tech pack template

Outerwear has more layers than any other basic: a shell, a lining, rib trims and a zipper that has to match the body length in every size. This template starts you with a lined bomber jacket, so you only change the fabric, the details and your fit.

Common mistakes

  • One zipper length for all sizes, so it buckles on small sizes or falls short on large ones.
  • No lining spec, so the factory picks the cheapest one.
  • Forgetting that a lined jacket needs ease: give finished measurements, not body measurements.

Questions

Can I use it for a coach jacket or a puffer?
Yes. For a coach jacket, swap the rib collar for a shirt collar and the zip for snaps. For a puffer, add wadding to the bill of materials and quilting lines to the sketch.
Does the zipper length change per size?
Usually yes, it follows the body length. The template lists it as a point of measure with its own grade.
